At CurioWanderer, we believe that the best way to learn from other cultures is to promote community, people, cultural exchange by respecting the people, places, and cultures of the places we visit. We strive to make traveling with us a respectful, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
The Traveler Conduct Policy is intended to set standards for travelers to follow on all CurioWanderer adventures. In addition to compliance with applicable laws in any destination we visit, travelers are expected to comply with this policy for the safety, security, and enjoyment of all.
Tourism should foster mutual understanding and respect between people and societies, protecting cultural and natural heritage for future generations. Travelers are expected to respect local people, cultures, and other travelers by treating everyone with dignity and respect. This includes being aware of one's own cultural biases, respecting differing opinions and beliefs, and avoiding any form of bullying, prejudice, or discriminatory language. Travelers should respect holy and significant sites, adhere to dress codes, and seek permission before taking photos. Respecting local communities and maintaining appropriate noise levels, especially in residential areas, is also emphasized.
Travelers must refuse to support any business or organization that utilizes child labor and uphold child welfare standards. Illegal drug use and excessive alcohol consumption, which impair judgment and increase risk, are prohibited. Abusive or violent behavior, sexual misconduct, and engaging in sexual tourism or prostitution are grounds for immediate removal from a tour. Physical relationships between staff and travelers are forbidden to maintain professional boundaries. Travelers should respect animal welfare by avoiding products made from or harmful to animals. CurioWanderer emphasizes the importance of maintaining safety, security, and good health practices for all travelers.
Travelers should minimize their environmental impact by avoiding the use of plastic bags and disposable water bottles, using biodegradable toiletries, and not leaving litter behind. They should not remove objects from natural environments or historical sites, or purchase artifacts illegally. Supporting businesses that harm animal welfare, including those that deal in products made from exotic or endangered animals, is discouraged. Preserving animal welfare is a critical aspect of responsible tourism that CurioWanderer promotes.
If a traveler fails to adhere to this policy and we determine, at our discretion, that there is a concern for the safety, security, or well-being of others, CurioWanderer may immediately remove the traveler from the tour. Travelers removed for violating this Traveler Conduct Policy are responsible for all costs related to their removal, including accommodations and transportation home, at their own expense. No refunds will be issued for removals due to policy violations.
